Ah, we love a good themed wedding! And, they are popular for a reason. Not only are they a fun way to display your personality on your special day, but they also make a lot of the decision-making for you as they narrow down choices on colours, decor, outfits etc. Choosing a unique wedding theme will make yours stand out during a busy wedding season – and surely you want your day to be the one that guests remember! Theme-wise, you could go as far as making your wedding a big fancy dress extravaganza or keep it as simple as a few decor details that tie into a subtle nod to a theme. Some of our favourite themes from what we’ve seen this year, somewhat unsurprisingly, could seamlessly incorporate letter lights. Funny that, eh?
Take a look at our top five unique wedding theme ideas for this year.
The Summer Fête

Get out the bunting! We love how this couple used bunting, string lights and our giant letter lights to dress up this local hall. It reminds us of a casual day outdoors at a school summer fair – like GBBO with a wedding edge. It’s the perfect way to bring that country feel indoors.
The Destination Theme
If you’re planning a destination wedding, you’re probably planning to match the local flair. But we love the idea of bringing a region that means something special to you, home! These beautiful tropical floral details could be used anywhere. So whether you’re in a local hall in Leeds or a grand beach hotel, why not add a touch of Hawaii or the Caribbean to bring back some flavour with meaning and bring a tropical edge to proceedings.
A Back-To-Nature Theme
For the flower child or avid outdoors adventurer, a simple nature theme with green details is a beautiful idea for spring and summer weddings. Carry the whole theme through into each detail with matching colours and contrasting textures. It’s both classic and modern at the same time.
The 1950’s Theme
Rollers at the ready! One of our favourite photo shoots was with The Bridal Emporium and Drazen Priganica photography and involved a 1950’s retro wedding theme. Wouldn’t this make the coolest kitsch wedding theme? See more of the pictures here.
The Literary Theme
We couldn’t help ourselves but to nerd out a bit here. And whether you are more of an Anne of Green Gables or a Disney fan, it’s fun to incorporate something meaningful into your wedding. If a particular book is near and dear to your heart, share that special connection with your family on your special day. This subtle nod to Harry Potter is adorable and perfectly fitting.
